Overview of role

The role of the Portfolio Manager is to invest client and corporate funds to optimize returns against agreed benchmarks and thereby contribute to the retention and growth of assets management business and overall company development and profitability.

Job description

  • Track the universe of local income investment opportunities
  • Portfolio construction and monitoring of portfolio holding by client (includes over/underweight positions relative to benchmarks)
  • On-going analysis of credit opportunities to meet the fund’s objectives
  • Ensure portfolio rebalancing and buy/sell decisions are implemented and that trades are captured on the system (straight through processing
  • Review portfolio returns and structures against allocation and performance benchmarks
  • Monitoring of portfolio cash/liquidity positions
  • Periodically liaise with custodians, transfer secretaries and back office to ensure accuracy of data and records
  • Compile information, analyses and assist in the presentation of quarterly trustee reports (commentaries)
  • Assist in the presentation of new business pitches (tender documents and power point presentations)
  • Carry out investment presentations to client, from time to time as delegated by the CIO

Requirements, Education and Experience

  • CFA Qualified or PhD
  • University relevant degree (Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or Engineering)
  • A minimum of 5 - 10 years' post qualificatin experience in the fund management industry will be required
