Our Client is a leading Fintech company providing a scope of financial services by utilising disruptive and innovative technologies. Having become the Digital Lending leader in our markets, Mogo Finance is currently expanding in Africa.

The company is looking for a Debt Collection Manager for their operation in Tanzania who will manage overall debt management and debt recovery initiatives for the business.

Job description

  • Overall coordination of debt management and debt recovery for the team
  • Daily tracking and performance monitoring to ensure recovery targets are on track, variances identified promptly and appropriate strategies deployed to close performance gaps
  • Developing and updating capacity plans to ensure optimal resourcing levels are maintained at all times
  • Recruiting, developing and guiding Debt Recovery team in reviewing all non-performing facilities and developing appropriate strategies to ensure efficient and cost effective recoveries
  • Analysis of the individual collector’s book performance and guiding the collections team on strategy for optimal recoveries
  • Quality analysis of the Debt collection agent’s communication for consistency and customer retention
  • Target setting, ensuring compliance with the full collections processes, controls, policies and procedures
  • Manage the operational costs by continuously monitoring the team to ensure overall increased operational efficiency
  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort
  • Ensure team members live up to the values of the organization
  • Planning and closely coordinating the Debt Recovery process with various stakeholders, including Lawyers and external debt collectors
  • Providing periodic reports to Management on the Recovery Status of non-performing portfolio, with clear recommendations on the way forward
  • Keeping abreast with and proactively acting on market developments that may adversely impact on the recovery of loans
  • Providing appropriate inputs to Management to ensure identified gaps in the lending process are addressed

Requirements, Education and Experience

  • Degree in Businuess Administration/ Accounting or similar
  • At least 5 years experience in Digital/Mobile Lender, Bank or Microfinance Institution
