Job description

Reporting to the Underground Study Manager, you will lead the underground decline development team in the development of Debswana’s first underground mine. Key performance areas include: sustaining a culture of Absolute Zero Harm and best practice operational efficiency; participating in the technical, operational readiness and commercial sections of the underground feasibility study, leading the mining contractor tender/s and selection process; managing mining contractors; internal and external stakeholder relations; managing partnerships with contract miners and other service providers; and skills development of staff.

Requirements, Education and Experience

You will need a Mining/Civil Engineering or Geosciences tertiary qualification and at least 15 years’ experience in underground mining development with a Tier 1 Mining Company/ Contractor and project management. You will have or be eligible to hold the statutory mine appointments. Non-Mining Engineers should have specific post-graduate mining certification
in mining for statutory purposes. Experience with modern rapid development equipment and
practices is essential. The position is tenable at Debswana Corporate Centre - Horizon 2 projects.
